Dr. M.S. Swaminathan: The father of India’s Green Revolution

Dr. M.S. Swaminathan was a renowned Indian agricultural scientist and visionary leader. Born on 7 August 1925, he played a key role in transforming Indian agriculture. He is widely known as the Father of India’s Green Revolution. 

His efforts helped increase wheat and rice production across the country. His work significantly improved India’s food security and reduced hunger. He promoted sustainable farming, biodiversity conservation, and rural development. Dr. Swaminathan emphasized empowering small and marginal farmers through science and technology. 

He received numerous national and international honors, including the World Food Prize. His research and policies continue to influence agriculture and food security worldwide.
