Jagadguru Basaveshwara was a 12th-century philosopher, statesman, and visionary reformer who transformed Indian society with his progressive ideals.
He served as a chief minister in the Kalachuri kingdom, using his position to promote justice and social equality. He established the Anubhava Mantapa, the world’s first spiritual parliament, encouraging open dialogue across all sections of society.
His powerful Vachanas (poetic teachings) spread timeless wisdom on devotion, ethics, and humanity.He strongly opposed caste discrimination, rituals, and superstition, advocating a society based on equality and dignity.
His principle “Kayakave Kailasa” (Work is Worship) emphasized honest labour as the path to spiritual fulfillment.
He also preached “Dasoha” (selfless service), promoting sharing and compassion among people.
Basaveshwara championed women’s rights, giving them equal space in spiritual and social discussions.His teachings laid the foundation of Lingayat philosophy, focusing on personal devotion and inner purity.
His life stands as a symbol of truth, unity, hard work, and fearless reform, inspiring generations worldwide.
