January 12 holds great significance in India as it is celebrated as National Youth Day (Yuva Diwas), commemorating the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, one of India’s greatest philosophers, spiritual leaders, and youth icons. Born on this day in 1863, Swami Vivekananda believed deeply in the power, energy, and potential of young minds to shape the future of the nation. Declared National Youth Day by the Government of India in 1984, this day aims to inspire the youth to follow ideals of self-confidence, discipline, service to humanity, and nation-building. It serves as a reminder that a strong, progressive country is built on the character, courage, and vision of its young generation, echoing Vivekananda’s timeless message: “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached.”
