Vinesh Phogat: The Warrior Who Never Gave Up

Vinesh Phogat is one of India’s most celebrated freestyle wrestlers, known for her courage, determination, and resilience. She won Commonwealth Games gold three times, in 2014, 2018, and 2022. In 2018,

she became the first Indian woman wrestler to win an Asian Games gold medal. She won bronze at the World Championships in 2019 and 2022. She also earned multiple medals at the Asian Championships. She represented India at the 2016, 2020, and 2024 Olympic Games. 


At Paris 2024, she created history by defeating undefeated world No. 1 Yui Susaki and reaching the Olympic final.Although she was later disqualified after the final weigh-in, her performance became a powerful symbol of resilience.She received the Arjuna Award and the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna, India’s highest sporting honour. 


Beyond medals, Vinesh has become an inspiration for athletes through her determination to overcome setbacks and keep fighting.
