India’s journey in space science is a story of vision, innovation, and continuous progress. September 29 marks two remarkable milestones in this journey, reflecting ISRO’s growing capabilities in satellite technology and atmospheric research. In 1997, ISRO successfully launched the IRS-1D satellite aboard PSLV-C1, strengthening India’s remote-sensing and launch capabilities. A year later, in 1998, the Rohini RH-560 Mk sounding rocket was successfully launched to study the upp

On September 4, 2026, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) achieved a landmark milestone with the successful launch of the GSLV-F17 rocket, carrying the advanced Earth Observation Satellite EOS-05 (also known as GISAT-1A). Lifting off precisely at 2:55 AM IST from the Second Launch Pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, the 51.7-meter-tall GSLV vehicle seamlessly placed the 2,367 kg payload into a Sub-Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit roughly 19 minutes af

On 5 August 2023, ISRO achieved a major milestone as Chandrayaan-3 successfully entered the Moon’s orbit. The spacecraft was captured by the Moon’s gravitational field after a precisely executed Lunar Orbit Insertion (LOI) maneuver. This critical retro-burning operation slowed the spacecraft and placed it into a stable lunar orbit. The achievement demonstrated ISRO’s exceptional precision in navigation, orbital calculations, and deep-space mission control. Lunar orbit insert
