J. R. D. Tata (1904–1993) was one of India’s greatest industrialists, aviators, and philanthropists. He became India’s first licensed pilot in 1929 and founded Tata Airlines in 1932, which later became Air India. As Chairman of the Tata Group for over five decades, he transformed it into one of India’s largest and most respected business conglomerates.
