Aditya-L1 is India’s first dedicated space-based solar observatory.Launched by ISRO on September 2, 2023, aboard PSLV-C57.The spacecraft travels around the Sun–Earth L1 point, about 1.5 million km from Earth. From this location, it can continuously observe the Sun without Earth blocking its view.
The mission studies the Sun’s outer atmosphere, called the corona. It also investigates solar flares, coronal mass ejections, and solar winds. These powerful solar events can influence satellites, communication, and power systems on Earth.Aditya-L1 helps scientists better understand space weather and solar activity.
Its observations contribute to advancing India’s capabilities in solar and space science.Aditya-L1 marks a major step forward in India’s exploration of the Sun.
