Zohra Sehgal was a legendary actress, dancer, and choreographer who lived a vibrant life for over a century. She began her journey as a dancer with Uday Shankar’s troupe, touring globally.
A pioneer of Indian theatre, she worked with Indian People's Theatre Association and Prithvi Theatre for many years. Her career spanned over 8 decades across theatre, Bollywood, and international cinema.
She acted in iconic films like Neecha Nagar, Dil Se, Veer-Zaara, and Cheeni Kum. She also gained global recognition through British films and television shows.
Known as the “Grand old lady of Indian cinema,” she remained active even in her 90s. Her achievements include the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan.
She also received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship for lifetime contribution. Her life symbolized passion, resilience, and a fearless love for art until her passing in 2014 at 102.
