World Ozone Day is observed every year on 16 September to raise awareness about the importance of the ozone layer and the need to protect it. The ozone layer acts as Earth’s natural shield, absorbing much of the Sun’s harmful ultraviolet radiation. Its depletion became a major global environmental concern due to substances such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). In response, countries came together through the Montreal Protocol in 1987 to phase out ozone-depleting substances. This global effort is one of the most successful examples of international environmental cooperation. World Ozone Day reminds us that protecting the atmosphere requires collective responsibility and sustainable choices. A healthier ozone layer means greater protection for people, ecosystems, and future generations. Let us continue supporting actions that heal and safeguard our planet’s protective shield. Wishing everyone a meaningful World Ozone Day from 2PF!
