CRPF Foundation Day: Honouring the Nation’s Largest Paramilitary Force

CRPF Foundation Day is observed every year on 27 July to commemorate the raising of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in 1939 as the Crown Representative’s Police.After India’s independence, it was renamed the Central Reserve Police Force through the CRPF Act of 1949.


The CRPF is India’s largest Central Armed Police Force, serving under the Ministry of Home Affairs.It plays a vital role in maintaining internal security, law and order, and national unity.The force is actively involved in counter-insurgency, anti-terrorism, anti-Naxal operations, and election security.


CRPF personnel also provide VIP security, assist during natural disasters, and participate in United Nations peacekeeping missions.Their courage, professionalism, and selfless service have earned them immense respect across the nation.
