Kargil Vijay Diwas: Saluting the Heroes of Operation Vijay

Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed every year on 26 July to commemorate India’s victory in the 1999 Kargil War.The day honors the courage, sacrifice, and patriotism of the brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces.Operation Vijay was launched to drive out infiltrators who had occupied strategic positions in the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
 

Despite challenging terrain and extreme weather, Indian soldiers displayed extraordinary valor and determination.The victory reaffirmed India’s commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity.Over 500 Indian soldiers laid down their lives while defending the nation.Heroes such as Captain Vikram Batra, Lieutenant Manoj Kumar Pandey, Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav, and Rifleman Sanjay Kumar became enduring symbols of bravery.
