As the sacred rhythm of the dhak fills the air and the fragrance of shiuli flowers welcomes autumn, Maha Saptami marks the beginning of the grand celebrations of Maa Durga’s divine presence. It is a day of awakening, devotion, renewal, and the triumph of good over evil.

The day begins with the traditional Nabapatrika Snan, a ceremonial bath of the Nabapatrika, representing nine sacred plant forms associated with the Goddess. The Nabapatrika, popularly known as Kola Bou in Bengal, is dressed and ceremonially placed beside Lord Ganesha. The rituals continue with the invocation of Maa Durga, sacred mantras, and the offering of prayers.Devotees offer fresh flowers, bel leaves, fruits, coconut, sweets, incense, and lit diyas with heartfelt devotion. Pushpanjali, devotional chanting, and the recitation of sacred scriptures form an important part of the worship. Traditional bhog often includes khichuri, labra (mixed vegetables), chutney, and payesh, though offerings vary by temple and family tradition. The worship culminates in devotional aarti, prayers, and the distribution of bhog as prasad, spreading blessings, unity, and joy among devotees. Maha Saptami reminds us to awaken the strength within and welcome every new beginning with faith and courage.

2PF celebrates the awakening of divine Shakti, the beauty of timeless traditions, and the spirit of devotion that unites generations — honouring our roots while inspiring the future.
