REMEMBERING DR. C. V. RAMAN ON HIS BIRTH ANNIVERSARY — THE MAN WHO DISCOVERED THE RAMAN EFFECT

Remembering Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, the legendary Indian physicist whose groundbreaking discovery changed the world of science. Born on 7 November 1888 in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, he developed a deep passion for scientific exploration from an early age. In 1928, he discovered the Raman Effect, explaining how light changes wavelength when scattered by molecules. This remarkable discovery opened new possibilities in understanding the interaction between light and matter. In 1930, he became the first Asian to receive the Nobel Prize in Physics for this achievement. He was honoured with the Bharat Ratna in 1954 for his extraordinary contribution to science. His dedication to research helped establish India’s reputation in the global scientific community. He served as the director of the Indian Institute of Science and later founded the Raman Research Institute in Bengaluru. His discovery is commemorated every year on 28 February as National Science Day in India. Dr. Raman’s legacy continues to inspire generations to question, discover, and innovate. 2pf celebrates the birth anniversary of Dr. C. V. Raman, the brilliant mind who discovered the Raman Effect and transformed modern physics.
