2PF pays tribute to the timeless legacy of Rituparno Ghosh on his birth anniversary.Rituparno Ghosh was a visionary Bengali filmmaker, screenwriter, actor and lyricist who transformed the landscape of contemporary Indian cinema.His breakthrough film Unishe April won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film. 


He went on to create acclaimed films including Dahan, Bariwali, Utsab, Chokher Bali, Raincoat, Dosar, The Last Lear and Abohoman. His films earned numerous National Film Awards, including honours for Best Direction, Best Screenplay and Best Feature Film. Utsab and Abohoman brought him National Awards for Best Direction, among his most significant directorial achievements. His Hindi film Raincoat and English film The Last Lear established his presence beyond Bengali cinema. His deeply human stories explored love, relationships, identity, loneliness and the complexities of human emotion.


Through his fearless portrayal of women and queer identities, he opened important conversations in Indian cinema. Rituparno Ghosh remains an enduring voice of sensitivity, artistry and fearless storytelling—a filmmaker whose cinema continues to live in the hearts of audiences.
